"Integrating mobile health innovations into the care for patients with atrial fibrillation"

The central theme of this thesis was the implementation of mobile health solutions in the management of patients with atrial fibrillation (AF). The focus was to investigate some of the components, which are essential for successful integration of mobile health solutions in care pathways. The different parts of this thesis focused on the different components of atrial fibrillation management, namely anticoagulation/avoid stroke, better symptom management and cardiovascular risk factors an comorbidity management optimization. In this thesis it was shown that mobile health solutions are feasible to use in AF screening, to achieve better symptom control through heart rate and rhythm monitoring and to be used in clinical pathway for the screening and management of comorbidities. In short, mobile health solutions may be of additional value in many different clinical scenarios.
