Bastiaan Kemp appointed as Assistant Professor Company Law
On 1 October 2015 Bastiaan Kemp, former PhD-fellow at the Institute for Corporate Law, Governance and Innovation Policies (ICGI), was appointed Assistant Professor of Company Law at our faculty (department Private Law) and as Research Fellow at ICGI. His focus is on company law and he will teach the master course Comparative Company Law. In his academic research his focus will be on corporate litigation, the relationship between the bodies of the company when they go through financial difficulties and the historical development of the Dutch law of legal entities.
After Bastiaan graduated cum laude from Maastricht University in January 2013 he conducted a PhD research into the position and role of the shareholder besides working as a lawyer at DVDW Advocaten. This resulted in Bastiaan obtaining his PhD on 30 September 2015 on the subject “Shareholder responsibility: The position and role of the shareholder and the shareholders meeting”. Beside his work as an Assistant Professor at the faculty he will remain associated as a lawyer with DVDW Advocaten in The Hague.
