Students cooperate on inclusive mobility throughout the Meuse-Rhine Euregion

During the second week of September 2018, the first Euregio Summer School will be held. The week will be devoted to working together on the topic of cross-border mobility in the digital age and will take place at a number of locations within the Meuse-Rhine Euregion. Among its organisers is the Institute for Transnational and Euregional cross border cooperation and Mobility / ITEM.

7 Higher education institutions - Three Countries - One Goal:

The first Euregio Summer School develops future visions on the topic "Improving inclusive Mobility in the Digital Age" in the Meuse-Rhine Euregion.

On the initiative of the Aachen Region - Zweckverband, a cross-border and multidisciplinary Summer School will be held for the first time in the Meuse-Rhine Euregion during the week of 10-14 September 2018 as part of the Interreg project HYPEREGIO-EarlyTech.

45 students from a variety of disciplines of higher education institutions in Aachen, Hasselt, Heerlen, Liège and Maastricht will spend a week working together on ideas, visions and solution proposals for the different types of cross-border mobility that will enrich and facilitate the everyday life of people in the Meuse-Rhine Euregion in the digital age. Students are guided by professors from euregional higher education institutions who provide exciting insights into the basics of modern concept development, such as prototyping, "Design Thinking" and "Business Model Canvas".

To put the acquired knowledge into practice, students visit a different research institution in the Meuse-Rhine Euregion every day. The "Corda Campus" in Hasselt serves as a base and opens the Summer School, followed by the "Wijk van Morgen" in Heerlen, the "ID Campus" in Liège and the "Maastricht International Centre" in Maastricht. There, students will receive local support from euregional experts such as the partner project EMR Connect, which will deepen innovative approaches to cross-border mobility solutions.

The programme is rounded off by evening events in the respective cities, with which the partner project youRegion makes the cultural diversity and the high quality of life in the respective cities of the EMR tangible.
