Maastricht professor in ranking of philanthropy influentials

Paul Smeets one of the 100 'most influential people in Dutch philanthropy'

Paul Smeets, professor at the School of Business and Economics, has won 67th place on De Dikke Blauwe 100, the annual ranking of 100 'most influential people in Dutch philanthropy'. Smeets is the youngest professor at Maastricht University and holds the chair of Philanthropy and Sustainable Finance of the Elisabeth Strouven Fund.

The DDB100 is intended to portray those people who in one way or another have achieved social impact with money (their own or that of others), time or ideas and thereby serve as an example for others who have private initiatives or administrative influence contribute to the common good.

About Paul Smeets

Paul Smeets studies, among other things, the behavior, effectiveness and social added value of the Elisabeth Strouven Fund and other equity funds in the Netherlands. Paul Smeets' field of research has always been philanthropy. He also conducts research into citizens' motives for donating to wealth-raising funds. He tries to find ways to improve the well-being of citizens in the region by increasing the impact per donated euro.
