Is UM becoming too big for Maastricht?

Regional newspaper De Limburger discusses the importance of the university for the city and the consequences for the city and region if the university grows in size in the coming years. "Without the university, Maastricht would not flourish. The university is the engine of growth." But further growth can also have downsides: "how many students can Maastricht handle?".

The article explores solutions: spreading living, studying and working over a larger area. The four Brightlands campuses are "a trump card" in this respect. They must strengthen the cooperation between government, education and business.  The newspaper outlines the conditions for this spread: from more intensive cooperation to better public transport.
